Proverbs 30: 7~9
Oh God, I beg two favors from you;
Let me have them before I die.
First, help me never to tell a lie.
Second, give me neither poverty nor riches!
Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.
For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?”
And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.
The Last Thing I will ever eat…
Is adobo… yep, that famous Filipino dish that never spoils… don’t get me wrong, it’s tasty food… the problem is for almost n-years of my childhood it was served to me in my lunchbox… it came as either chicken or pork… but mostly chicken…
I remember some fellow officemates of mine, who were in Japan with me for a year, telling me that nobody ever leaves Japan without ever learning how how to cook adobo… to which I answered: “Wanna bet?” (another variation of that answer was: “There’s a first time for everything.”)
So if you serve adobo to me and I don’t eat it… please don’t be insulted… I felt I’ve had enough adobo to last me a lifetime…
Heart Breaking Loss for UST
Caught the tail end of the UST vs FEU game yesterday, where FEU came back from a 16 pt deficit, forced overtime then eventually gained the win.
Kudos to FEU, they really proved to themselves what they are capable of and can ride on the crest of this win when they meet DLSU this saturday. If they beat DLSU this saturday they could tie their record of second place in the standings.

NU Bulldogs, a sign of things to come
WTF??? Pardon my language but that was what I and bleacherful of DLSU fans must have felt with the team’s performance in the first half of yesterdays game. The NU Bulldog’s vs the DLSU Green Archers in Round 2 of UAAP Season 71 was looking to be a rout and a major drubbing for the defending champs. NU raced to a 9-0 lead in the first quarter, DLSU tried to counter and brought it close, only to be down by 11 points at the half.

Mornings are the best time to pray
For me the best time to pray and commune with God is just before the break of dawn. Nothing like the silence, the solace and the sanctity of dawn. If you time it correctly you could even be a witness to the majestic spectacle of a Sunrise… yet another beautiful creation of the Lord.
What more here in Davao, where the lushness of greenery still intermingles with the concrete of the roads and buildings?

Six Mistakes of Man by Cicero
1. The delusion that personal gain is made by crushing others.
2. The tendency to worry about things that cannot be changed or corrected.
3. Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it.
4. Refusing to set aside trivial preferences.
5. Neglecting development and refinement of the mind, and not acquiring the habit of reading and studying.
6. Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do.
Written a long time ago but still so very much applicable to this day and age. I guess that’s why they are considered great Philosophers in the first place because their thoughts are timeless and because they are such great forward thinkers.
I just have to inject this comment for no. 1 :
1. The delusion that personal gain is made by crushing others.
that one musn’t assume that those you want to crush won’t crush you back….
Gaya Gaya Puto Maya
I have to marvel at the development of childhood rhymes… this little rhyming verse popped up all of a sudden whilst working on some paper work…
Maybe it was triggered by an impromptu family reunion caused by the arrival of my cousin and uncle from abroad… early morning talks by my cousin and I made me remember my childhood here in Davao.

Death in the Family
My cousin’s mother died yesterday. This year there had been a lot of news of people close to me and my family dying. So you attend the wake, pay your respects, say a prayer and light a candle for the repose of their soul.
The difference with this passing is that it hits close to home. The wife of my uncle was the one who passed away. She was the mother of my bestfriend in Davao.
