Heart Breaking Loss for UST

leave a comment »

Caught the tail end of the UST vs FEU game yesterday, where FEU came back from a 16 pt deficit, forced overtime then eventually gained the win.

Kudos to FEU, they really proved to themselves what they are capable of and can ride on the crest of this win when they meet DLSU this saturday. If they beat DLSU this saturday they could tie their record of second place in the standings.

I really feel sorry for UST on this loss. Especially for Jervy Cruz who had a monster game with 30+ points but seemed to have burned out come the fourth quarter.

Reliable free throw shooters such as Ababou and Cruz were missing their much needed free throws. Could this loss have been prevented had Coach Pido implemented a more suitable rotation? This has got the be the second game that I’ve noticed the players of UST running out of gas (literally) in the fourth quarter.

Well I guess we could credit FEU too for just holding back till the third and releasing all that pent up energy like a tsunami in the fourth to overwhelm and tire out the UST players via their stiffling trapping defense. Another proof that defense does win games.
